This is one of my most favourite Middle Eastern Tea’s. Its beautiful rich combination of flavours also soothing to the digestive system. Aynar is a spiced tea that is brewed especially for when a new baby arrives. It is served in celebration of mama’s and baby’s safe arrival home and is served to the guests in honour of the newborn. Traditionally the tea is served with nuts on the bottom. it is also a wonderful way to balance the sugar with protein for stable blood sugar balance.
Once the fragrant spices like cinnamon, caraway, anise, and nutmeg come boil in a large pot of water, the hot tea is served over assorted nuts. Walnut, almond, and pine nuts are the most common. Raw honey or sugar cane is used to sweeten the tea.
Mom would also serve it when company came over or one of us had an upset stomach. It worked like magic. Please try it for yourselves, it is easy to make and it will tickle your smell and your taste buds.
