Indulge in the satisfaction of homemade sourdough bread with this recipe, which requires patience as the dough ferments overnight. But trust us, the resulting flavour and texture make every moment worthwhile!
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups warm water
- 1 cup sourdough starter
- ½ cup corn oil
- ½ cup white sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
- 6 cups bread flour
Directions:
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, sourdough starter, corn oil, sugar, and salt. Gradually add the sifted bread flour to form a cohesive mixture. Grease or oil the dough and transfer it to an oiled bowl. Cover and let it rest overnight to rise.
- The following day, prepare two 8 x 4-inch loaf pans by greasing them. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes, then divide it in half and place each portion into the prepared pans. Allow the dough to double in size.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Bake the loaves in the preheated oven until the tops turn golden brown, typically taking about 40 to 45 minutes. To check if they’re done, carefully tip the loaves out of the pan onto a work surface and gently tap the bottom; if it sounds hollow, the bread is ready.
Enjoy the delightful aroma and taste of freshly baked sourdough bread straight from your oven!
