Here’s a nutrient-packed recipe for homemade dog treats using fresh, whole food ingredients without grains or preservatives.

Superfood Dog Bites:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree (unsweetened)
  • 1/4 cup kale, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 2 tablespoons flaxseed meal
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil, melted

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a blender or food processor, pulse the blueberries until they are broken down into smaller pieces.
  3. In a large bowl, mix the pulsed blueberries, pumpkin puree, chopped kale, chia seeds, flaxseed meal, and melted coconut oil until well combined.
  4. Scoop out small portions of the mixture and roll them into bite-sized balls or shape them using cookie cutters.
  5. Place the treats on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each.
  6. Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until the treats are set.
  7. Allow the treats to cool completely before serving them to your dog.

Note:

  • Blueberries provide antioxidants, pumpkin offers fibre, kale is rich in vitamins, chia seeds and flaxseed meal contribute omega-3 fatty acids, and coconut oil adds healthy fats.
  • Always check with your veterinarian before introducing new treats into your dog’s diet, especially if your dog has specific dietary needs or health conditions.

These superfood dog bites are a nutrient-dense and delicious option for your canine companion, offering a variety of beneficial nutrients without grains or preservatives. Adjust the treat size based on your dog’s preferences and monitor for any sensitivities.
